Seán joined the ICHEC team in November 2011 as a Computational Scientist under the European HPC project PRACE. Previously, he completed his PhD in Astrophysics based in Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) and University College Dublin (UCD). In his research, Seán implemented numerical schemes to solve the particle transport equation using a hybrid MPI+OpenMP approach on ICHEC's Stokes cluster, and has ported that code to run on GPU accelerated architectures such as ICHEC's Stoney cluster.

Seán has also obtained a Masters degree in Computational Science in University College Dublin, focusing on numerical algorithms and HPC techniques. His professional interests also include scientific visualisation, using ICHEC's 3D facilities.
