Culture Night 2017
ICHEC will be organising several exhibits at Culture Night 2017 (22nd Sep) at Dunsink Observatory. Our staff will be there to guide visitors to our exhibits including virtual reality technology, PRACE games and a 100-year climate model of Earth. Visitors will also get a chance to learn about supercomputing, and ICHEC's role in supporting research and innovation in Ireland and beyond.
Apart from our exhibits, visitors will be able to view the historic Dunsink Observatory, once home to world-renowned mathematician and scientist Sir William Rowan Hamilton. There is also the chance to see the historic Grubb telescope and hear the remarkable story of the Dublin company that became one of the greatest telescope makers in the World. Weather permitting, there will be various smaller telescopes on display for star-gazing. Astronomers from the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) will be giving two talks on the evening (booking required).
