Before joining ICHEC in 2022, he worked in the UK public sector developing community software for modelling plasma inside tokamak nuclear fusion experiments, particularly focussing on optimization and scalability. Joseph is interested in algorithms for Exascale, performance portability, and software sustainability. He is also interested in spectral methods, probability, games, and really anything vaguely mathematical.Joseph is a competent singer, incompetent gardener, and a long-suffering fan of Ulster Rugby.
